yet a little while

November 19, 2008

I was feeling discouraged, and that it was going to be a tough week to get through, and I said to myself, “Yet a little while and…” and stopped.  “What?  Yet a little while and then what?  What is the rest?”  After a few moments of thought I admitted to being stumped before heading to bed.

Even though I didn’t know what would come in yet a little while, the words comforted and strengthened me as I fell asleep that night – as the words of God are apt to do, even when not fully understood.

35Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37For,

    “Yet a little while,
   and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
   and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”

 39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
